Gratitude Pays Big Dividends!

“The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you!” ~ John E. Southard

There’s magic in the phrase, Thank You!  I believe cultivating an attitude of gratitude places you in a powerful position.  It opens your heart and soul to all God has in store for you.  Expressing gratitude sets you up to benefit from the Law of Attraction which basically says, you bring about what you think about most.

I know you would never do this but I’m sure you know folks who complain about the weather just about everyday.  It’s too cold, too windy, too hot, too dry, it’s raining, it’s snowing, etc.  Just the other day I had an interesting experience.  It was a beautiful day, unseasonably warm, the sun was brightly shining and in polite conversation with a passerby I said, “this is great weather we’re having!”  His response, “yeah, but this is the kind of weather that makes you sick.”  I’m not a doctor and I’ve never studied the correlation between seasonably warm days and people getting sick so I’m unable to site statistics.  I did, however, think to myself, “Wow!  Even on a beautiful day like today, folks can still find a way to tune into the negative.”  I realized many years ago that no matter how much I complained about the weather, it never changed.  Fact, summer follows spring and winter follows autumn.  Sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows and sometimes it’s sunny and warm.  Where you live dictates how much of various conditions you will experience throughout the year.  I learned to love it all.  Regardless of what the weather is doing, I encourage you to be grateful.  If for no other reason than you’re still alive to experience those particular conditions.  I make reference to the weather example because often our response to outside conditions sets the tone for our day.  We think rain equals dreary and we have a dreary, gloomy day.  There is someone who sees the rain and looks for a puddle in which to jump!  I’m sure you’d agree, those two experience the day drastically different from one another.

Getting back to the Law of Attraction, as we learn to express gratitude for everything in our lives we align ourselves with more of what we want.  Rather than complaining about a stack of bills on the table, be grateful for an opportunity to take responsibility for you and your family.  More money and resources will come your way.  Rather than complaining about your boss, be grateful for the job you have and your promotion will come.  Esther and Jerry Hicks, authors of The Law of Attraction, phrase it this way, “…grateful for where I am, and eager for more.”  So the key is to be appreciative of what you have and open to receiving more.  An attitude of gratitude draws your wants and desires nearer to you.  And it starts with those 2 simple words…Thank You!

So today, strive to keep Thank You in everything you do.  Keep Thank You in your smile, in your greeting, in your handshake, even in your disagreements.  I assure you, if you keep Thank You in your heart, words, and actions you will feel the sun’s warmth on your face all day!  If you accept the challenge, look yourself in the mirror and say, “Today, I am grateful for everything I encounter!  Thank You for the opportunity to experience all this day brings to me!”

Thank You for taking the time to read this post!

Hey fantastic blog! Does running a blog similar to this take a great deal of work? I have absolutely no knowledge of programming however I was hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyhow, if you have any ideas or tips for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off topic however I just needed to ask. Kudos!

Hey Mike,
I appreciate those words! Setting up a blog like this is very doable for you and I’d be happy to share ideas with you! My 1st tip for new blog owners is to Get Started! Having no knowledge of programming is not a problem, I’m not a programmer, I’ve just found some resources which enable me to do exactly what we blog writers like to do…create content!

What a way to start my day by having an attitude of gratitude! So many times we see the decrease rather than the increase. The other evening I was out with my sister, Cynthia who I know lives on a fixed budget and she told me to take her to the mac machine because she wanted to share something with me. I first told her that she did not have to give me anything but she said she really wanted to do it. I was really moved and grateful for her generosity because I know it came from a place of sacrifice! I believe you are sharing something for the masses to read and experience. It is awesome to know that you are walking your talk! Keep it coming!
