Do You! It’s Who You Were Born To Be!

Your happiness is paramount!  Do You! Collectively, I don’t think we focus on our own happiness enough.  We get so caught up in trying to please everyone else and forget to please the most important person in your life…You! Upon take off, as the flight attendant briefs passengers on the rules, at some point he or she says, “…in the event of an emergency, be sure to secure your own oxygen mask before assisting another passenger.”  Even the airline understands it’s very difficult to effectively assist another if you’re having trouble.  As the saying goes, “a sinking ship doesn’t send an S.O.S. to another sinking ship.”  Do You! We’re running around trying to please the boss, the family, the girlfriend or boyfriend and anyone else who comes to mind.  The real question though, “are you happy?”  I want you to really sit and ask yourself this question:  Am I really happy?  Do You!

I read a quote today by Charles Swindoll which really stuck with me, “There is only one you.  God wanted you to be you.  Don’t you dare change just because you’re outnumbered. ”  So many young people are so confused which only leads to confused adults.  The confused mind is an unhappy mind.  I believe the confusion and unhappiness stem from an attempt to please too many people and you know no matter what, you can’t please everyone nor should you try.  Do You! Please yourself and as perfectly stated by Dr. Seuss, “…those who mind won’t matter and those who matter won’t mind.”

“Do You” really touches me in a very real way! So often I fine myself trying to do things to please others and yet it might not be a bad thing but I tend to do it at the expense of negating myself. I realize today that “Do You” represents a way to get into self and do something everyday that is productive and positive towards your dreams and goals! Keep it coming!
